Louise Smith

Louise has been involved in the dance industry for more than 40 years and is a registered member of the Australian Academy of Theatrical and Ballet Dancing Inc. (AATBD Inc.).

Louise has been trained in various styles of dance including classical, neo-classical, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, national, theatrical, hip hop and tap.  She has completed AATBD Inc. examinations in tap, classical ballet, jazz and theatrical, receiving Honours for the majority of these exams and holds full AATBD Inc. Teaching Diplomas in all of these styles.

Louise completed a Certificate of Dance Teaching at Queensland University of Technology with High Distinctions and holds a Bachelor of Business with a double major from Deakin University.

Louise has more than 25 years dance teaching experience and has been the Principal of Yarra Heights Dance Academy for more than 20 years, training students for examinations, competitions and other performances in the fields of classical, theatrical, pointe, neo-classical, jazz and tap. She is also a VCE Dance teacher.

Louise currently serves as a Committee Member of the AATBD Inc. and has been an Examiner of this society for 16 years.  She currently works as a Director, Teacher, Examiner and Adjudicator and continues to further her education in the dance industry by participating in various teacher workshops and classes around Australia, including with The Australian Ballet and Ausdance VIC.
